Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Livenx Labs (the "Provider") respects the privacy of everyone who uses RecoLife (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in connection with the App.
Our Approach
The App has no user accounts, and the Provider does not operate any server that stores your records. The records and photos you enter are stored only on your device and in your own iCloud account, and the Provider cannot view or obtain their contents.
Information Stored on Your Device
The following information is stored in the App's own storage area on your device (app files and the device settings store). It is not sent to the Provider (with RecoLife Pro, everything except settings is synced to your iCloud as described in the next section).
- Records: what you ate and drank, sleep, weight and body fat, steps, exercise, places visited, shopping, to-dos, wishlist items, memos, and other content you enter, together with dates and times.
- Photos and stickers: photos attached to records and sticker images cut out from photos. Cut-outs are processed on your device (Apple's Vision framework); photos are not sent to the Provider or any third party.
- Location: place names and coordinates attached to records. If “Keep footprints automatically” is on: places you stayed (arrival and departure times, coordinates, and the names of nearby places along with other candidates), points you passed while moving (times and coordinates), and how you moved (walking, train, etc.). From your stays, the App estimates on your device which places are likely your home and workplace. To improve how stays and place names are determined, the detailed location readings behind your footprints (time, coordinates, accuracy, speed, and the type of motion at the time) are kept on your device for 90 days and then deleted. They are not sent to iCloud or to the Provider.
- Values imported from Health: sleep, weight, body fat percentage, steps, and workout values that you copy into records.
- Settings: reminder time, display and feature toggles, and other app settings.
iCloud Storage and Sync
iCloud sync is a RecoLife Pro feature. On the free plan, your records, photos, stickers, custom categories, and footprints are stored only on your device. When you use RecoLife Pro and your device is signed in to iCloud, the App stores your records, photos, stickers, custom categories, and footprints (places you stayed, points you passed, and how you moved) in your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) and syncs them across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data uses your iCloud storage and is handled in accordance with Apple's privacy policy. The Provider cannot access it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, the data is stored only on your device. Records containing values imported from Health, and modes of travel determined using Health, are never sent to iCloud and stay only on the device. App settings such as the reminder time and appearance are not synced and are kept on each device.
Information Sent to the Provider or Third Parties
- Usage and device information: events related to app usage (such as screens viewed and features used), OS type and version, device type, app version, app instance ID, and approximate region. This does not include the contents of your records, photos, memos, places, or Health values.
- Purchase information: subscription status and purchase history, and an anonymous app user ID. Payments are processed by Apple; the Provider does not hold credit card or other payment details.
- Place search queries and coordinates: when you search for a place, the query and your approximate location are sent to Apple's map service (MapKit). The coordinates of places attached to records and of places where your footprints show you stayed are also sent to Apple's map service to get place names, nearby points of interest, and the routes drawn on the map.
- Book search queries: when you look up a book for a reading record, the words you enter (such as a title or author) are sent to the Google Books API. If you enter an ISBN, it is sent to openBD, and to the Google Books API if it is not found there. The contents of your records are not sent. Book cover images are loaded from these services.
- Inquiry information: the message you send from the in-app contact form, the email address if you enter one, and the app version and language at the time of sending.
- Update notices: to let you know about new versions, the App receives update settings from Firebase Remote Config, for example at launch. In doing so, the app instance ID, app version, OS version, device language, and similar information are sent to Google. To check which version is available on the App Store, the App also sends its app ID and your country or region to Apple's public App Store information service (iTunes Lookup). The contents of your records are not sent.
Device Permissions
The App uses the following permissions only when you grant them. You can change them at any time in iOS Settings.
- Location: to attach the name and coordinates of your current place to a record and to search for nearby places. In addition, only if “Keep footprints automatically” is on and location access is set to “Always”, the App receives location updates continuously while you are moving (including in the background) to record the points you pass, and records a stay when you remain in one place for about 10 minutes. While you stay still, iOS pauses the location updates and resumes them when you start moving. iOS visit notifications, significant-change notifications, and notifications that you left the area around the place you stayed are also used to detect arrivals and departures. Continuous location updates are not used while Low Power Mode is on. You can stop recording by turning the setting off or by changing location access in iOS Settings.
- Motion & Fitness: to tell how you moved between places (walking, cycling, car, train, etc.), the App reads the history of your device’s motion activity. It is used only for that purpose and is not sent off the device.
- Photo library: to attach photos you choose to records.
- Camera: to take photos to attach to records, to create stickers, and to read shopping receipts. Receipts are read on your device; no images are sent.
- Health (read only): to copy sleep, weight, body fat percentage, steps, and workout values into records. When "Keep footprints automatically" is on, the App also reads the time ranges of your cycling workouts to tell whether a footprint trip was made by bicycle. The App never writes to Health.
- Notifications: to deliver a daily recording reminder from your device (local notifications; nothing is pushed from a server).
Health (HealthKit) Data
Data read from Health is used only to copy values into your records and to tell whether a footprint trip was made by bicycle, and is stored only on your device. Records containing values imported from Health are not stored in or synced to iCloud. For telling how you moved, workout values (such as duration, distance, or heart rate) are not stored; only the resulting mode of travel (such as "cycling") is kept with your footprints on the device, and this mode of travel is not stored in or synced to iCloud. Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or usage analytics, and is never shared with or sold to third parties.
How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the App
- To store and display records, including in the calendar, review, and map ("Footprints") views, and to export them
- To verify subscription (Pro) status and manage the scope of free use
- To investigate issues, improve quality, and analyze usage
- To respond to inquiries
- To let you know about new versions (update notices)
Third-Party Services
- Apple Inc. (App Store payments and published version information (iTunes Lookup), place search and maps via MapKit, sync via iCloud/CloudKit, HealthKit)
- RevenueCat, Inc. (subscription purchase and entitlement management; receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase information)
- Google LLC (usage analytics via Firebase Analytics; update notices via Firebase Remote Config; receiving inquiries via Cloud Firestore; delivery of this page via Firebase Hosting; book search via the Google Books API)
- openBD (bibliographic data service by Calil Inc. and Hanmoto; book search by ISBN)
Information handled by each service is subject to that provider's privacy policy.
Advertising and Tracking
The App shows no ads and includes no advertising SDKs. It does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and it does not sell your information.
Disclosure to Third Parties
Except where required by law, necessary to protect life, body, or property, or required for the third-party services described above, the Provider does not disclose personal information to third parties without user consent.
Security
The Provider implements reasonable safeguards to protect the information it handles from loss, leakage, unauthorized access, and alteration. Protection of data stored on your device also depends on your device settings, such as your passcode.
Retention and Deletion
- Data on your device is erased when you delete the App. Please use the App's export feature beforehand to keep any data you need.
- Data stored in iCloud can be deleted in iOS Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Storage. Deleting the App does not delete the data in iCloud.
- Usage analytics data is deleted after the retention period configured in Firebase.
- Purchase-related information is retained for as long as needed for payments, refunds, and legal retention obligations.
Access, Correction, and Deletion
Because the Provider does not hold the contents of your records, you can view, correct, and delete them yourself in the App or on your device. Requests regarding access, correction, suspension of use, or deletion of usage analytics data, purchase-related information, or inquiry information may be sent to support@livenx.io.
For Users in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent laws apply, the following also applies.
- Controller: Livenx Labs (contact: support@livenx.io)
- Legal bases: purchase information and inquiries are processed to perform our contract with you or to respond to your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Usage analytics, troubleshooting, and update notices are based on the Provider's legitimate interest in providing the App reliably and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Device permissions such as location, Health, and photos are used only with your permission, and that data is processed only on your device (and, with RecoLife Pro, in your own iCloud).
- Your rights: you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, to restrict its processing, to data portability, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time. Please send requests to support@livenx.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country.
- Transfers outside the EEA: because the App uses third-party services (such as Google and RevenueCat), data may be processed outside the EEA, including in Japan and the United States. Such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards adopted by each provider, such as adequacy decisions of the European Commission, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses.
- Automated decision-making: the App does not make automated decisions, including profiling, that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Changes
The Provider may revise this Policy when necessary. Revisions take effect when published in the App or on this page.
